The parish magazine

The Parish Magazine

Our Parish Magazine by Andy Sharp, Editor

Like many parishes, we produce a monthly magazine. This one is imaginatively called “The Parish Magazine” – ideas for a better name would be sympathetically considered: just email me (at [email protected]).
It always includes some static information – who’s who and how to contact us on the inside front cover; details of services each week; the Parish Register – baptisms, weddings and funerals in the parish; and events for the next couple of months. There are always ideas for prayer – some members of our congregations are old and feel that they can’t do much, but they do have time to pray!
There is always a letter from one of the members of the Ministerial team, with their reflections on life at the moment.
And there are articles by members of the congregation and friends about things of interest to them – in particular, reports about interesting events they have been to, and notes about future events.
The Treasurer writes an article about how parish finances are going. Someone writes a report of each meeting of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and St. Julian’s District Church Council (DCC): members do it in rotation.
Particularly welcome are reports from the young people of the parish (thanks, guys!) who from time to time give their take on the services they’ve been to and the events they’ve participated in.
Your contributions are always welcome! Email them to [email protected], post them to the Editor at 284b London Road, St Albans AL1 1HY, or hand them to the welcomer at St. Julian’s on a Sunday morning.
The magazine is available in two formats. You can have it printed, in A5 size. It is also available electronically, as a pdf file, emailed to those subscribers who want it this way rather than in hard copy. The electronic version contains material which cannot easily be put into a black and white printed version – things like pictures and hyperlinks.
Importantly, the magazine also contains advertisements – mainly by local suppliers in our community.
You can buy individual copies in either church, but it is also available on subscription. To subscribe, go to the Subscriptions page, or email [email protected] for a free sample electronic copy.
