Palm Sunday
Sunday 13 April
A Morning Service in three parts:
9.30am Palm Sunday celebration with real donkey at St Julian’s Church.
9.45 am Palm Procession from St Julian’s to St Stephen’s Church.
10.15 am Liturgy of the Passion and Holy Communion at St Stephen’s.
Palm Sunday Children’s Services & Activities
Sunday 13 April
9.30am Palm Sunday celebration with a real donkey at St Julian’s Church, followed by Palm procession to St Stephen’s Church.
10.15am Sunday Explorers: Children’s Palm Sunday Activities in St Stephen’s Hall. This is suitable for children of all ages.
Holy Week Reflection Talks
Revd Charlie Hudson will lead us on “ Journey along the Stations of the Cross”
All at St Stephen’s, except for Maundy Thursday which is at St Julian’s

At St Julian’s, 7.30pm - Holy Communion with Foot Washing followed by The Watch (9.00 - 10.30pm)
A special service to commemorate the Last Supper of Christ and the institution of Holy Communion. The service will be followed by The Watch - a time of silence as we remember Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and his arrest. You can leave whenever you like during The Watch.
Good Friday
Friday 18 April
Walk of Witness: South St Albans Churches 10.00am. Starts at St Albans URC, Greenwood and will walk via St Stephen’s Church, St Bart’s Church before returning to St Albans URC, Greenwood, where refreshments will be served.
At the Cross. 12.15pm - 2.00pm at St Stephen’s Church. Short reflections followed by silence. Stay for as much or as little as you like.
Liturgy of Good Friday. 2.00pm - 3.00pm at St Stephen’s Church: A fuller service of prayer, readings and reflection before the Cross, with Holy Communion at the end.
Easter Sunday
Sunday 20 April
In St Stephen’s Churchyard, 6am - Dawn Service. Includes the lighting of the Easter Fire and Paschal candles. Breakfast will be available after the service.
At St Stephen’s Church, 8am - Holy Communion Service. Said Service with sermon.
At St Julian’s Church, 9.30am - Holy Communion Service. Service with sermon and hymns.
At St Stephen’s Church, 10.00am - All Age Parish Communion Service. Service with sermon and hymns. Suitable for children and families. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the churchyard after the service.
Bank Holiday Monday
Monday 21 April
Join thousands of pilgrims from churches across the Diocese for this special Easter celebration at the Cathedral, which this year has the theme of “All Things New”.
Either walk with our parish group (see details below), or make your way directly to the Cathedral for the service at 3.00pm.
11.45am-12.30pm - Coffee and hot cross buns will be served at St Julians Church
12.30pm Walkers set off and walk up to St Stephen's
12.50pm - Other walkers may join the group at St Stephen's and walk to the Orchard by the Cathedral.
1.30pm - Picnic lunch in the Abbey Orchard
3.00pm - Service in the Cathedral.
